Nethercott was elected to the Wyoming Senate in 2016 from Laramie County. During that time she has served as the Chairman of the following committees: Judiciary, Appropriations, Capital Finance & Investments and the Rules and Ethics Committee.

She has also served on the following committees: Mental Health and Vulnerable Adult Task Force; Corporations, Elections and Political Subdivisions; Blockchain, Finance and Digital Innovation, a liaison to the Wyoming Retirement System Board and the Management Audit committees.

In 2024, Nethercott was awarded the Business Advocate of the Year by the Greater Cheyenne Chamber of Commerce. In 2021 Nethercott was awarded Legislator of the Year by Wyoming County Commissioner’s Association and in 2020 she received the Person of the Year Award by Cheyenne Chamber.

She is a graduate of the Council of State Governments Western Leadership Academy, Leadership Wyoming, and Leadership Cheyenne. Nethercott is also an alumnus of the National Security Forum Air War College.
